You write so lyrically, Elizabeth. I can almost feel Courtomer's grass cushion my feet and smell your daffodils. I have to wonder about the fate of Leonore and her Artur, married in such a harsh season. Perhaps they were among the Huguenots who fled to the new world to escape the horrors that faith had wrought? Thanks for a glimpse into your reawakening world.

Quite extraordinary to think of the refugees gong so far away from familiar places and people. Not sure how many Norman Protestants emigrated; it looks as though many were from further south.

Sharon -- thank you!

My next Letter will continue the story of Léonore and Artus. They were not part of the Huguenot exodus.

I am very much looking forward to the next letter albeit a little sadly. As a South African, the Huguenot exodus was a significant part of South African relatively recent history. As with the earlier comment, I wondered if you were heading in this direction.

Nonetheless, it is fascinating to learn about the religious strife of these times in France. Perhaps an echo of the earlier Cathar persecution in Languedoc?

Thank you so much Elizabeth for giving up your time to bring this period of history and that of Courtomar alive for us.

I can't wait to see the results of all the planting around the Temple when I visit in June!
