The snow falls lightly and softly, wafting to earth, muffling laughter and sighs...bringing a fresh start to a young horse. Read today's Letter from the French countryside here.
Well, I think he needs a new kind of life. I'm looking for a place for him where he can be in small "herd" of horses and be outside "dans la nature" all the time. I think he needs time off and a reset.
I'm so sorry to take so long to get back to you, Steve. What good news that this new drug keeps the damage at bay. Have a wonderful cruise this summer. What a gorgeous itinerary. And Normandy is not far from Paris, which you will surely want to visit.
Such a beautiful story Elizabeth. This was clearly an affair of the heart for you to write. Your writing is superb.
Sadly, I must report that I have the dreaded brain condition called Alzheimer’s here in the US.
It is under control now because there is a new drug (just available a few months ago) called Leqembi (spelling may be different in Europe) and while it stops the condition from getting worse, it cannot reverse the damage. It is very expensive here - $90,000 a year - but the government pays for my treatment so it costs me nothing.
My wife and son have been incredibly supportive.
I am coming to France this year. Taking a river cruise from the south of France to Amsterdam. (May have to change boats a few times). But, if we have time, I will rent a car and bring my wife to see your chateau and to meet you.

Beautiful, descriptive recountings — as usual. Thank you …..

Finn appears so morose and alone in the picture.
Just beautiful, Mom.
